ABOUT US

Franz Joseph Haydn, often nicknamed the "father of the string quartet", was instrumental in popularizing chamber music in the 1700s and wrote over 60 string quartets throughout his career. During the 1700s and for many years after, chamber music was considered "social music" and was often played in intimate settings such as in people’s homes. Today, chamber music is often found in more formal concert hall settings which allows for bigger audiences. However, there is something magical that occurs when audience members and musicians are mere feet apart. They can laugh together, move together, and the music becomes more alive.

At Home With Haydn or AHWH is dedicated to bringing people together for chamber music throughout the Twin Cities and beyond. The organization seeks to honor the original setting chamber music was composed for putting on a number of concerts each year and despite the name, the AHWH musicians enjoy performing works composed by an array of composers. Founded by Adam Dorn, AHWH began as a concert series at the beginning of 2019 and was originally overseen by Caroga Arts Collective, an arts organization based in the beautiful setting of upstate New York. Kyle Price, an At Home With Haydn musician (cello), is Executive and Artistic Director of the Caroga Arts Collective and partnered up with Adam to help the concert series hit the ground running. In 2021, At Home With Haydn took the next step forward and became a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.

The experience of live chamber music in intimate settings is an experience like no other and AHWH seeks to bring that experience to people throughout the Twin Cities community. With the community in mind, At Home With Haydn is committed to reaching people who otherwise may not have access to live chamber music such as residents in senior living facilities, patients in hospitals, and children in schools, in addition to presenting chamber music concerts in home settings. AHWH is very excited about what is to come and looks forward to continuing to share chamber music with the Twin Cities community.
